Staff Profile: Ms. Pecharo

Dana Pecharo has been working here for 7 years. She was born in “King Of Prussia, Pennsylvania.” She used to be a 9th and 11th grade ELA teacher.  Before here, she was in “Bronx Design and Constructive Academy” as a 10th and 11th grade teacher. While working there, she came across our website and saw a video of a student reading a poem. Her and 5 staff members there (now here) all decided to come here together.

An Interesting fact about Ms. Pecharo is, she was a graphic designer before being a teacher and which she actually majored in. She misses her hometown because it was cheaper and her two best friends still live there where there are no visits and only facetime calls.

Everyday she misses teaching and she wishes she can still do it. Her official job here is “IEP Coordinator”. But she also does Restorative Justice, covers classes, takes care of the RJ room, and is the dean in her free time, but her favorite part of her job here is greeting the students in the morning.

Outside of being in this building, she reads a lot, hangs out with her friends, and enjoys eating at different places. If she had the choice to be a teacher again but teach a different grade and subject, she would be a college professor for photography or graphic design. What People would say about Ms. Pecharo is, she is good at telling great jokes, obsessed with her cats, and she loves to celebrate birthdays.
